My Perfect House

This isn’t really a blog really, more a list of things I feel my next house should or shouldn’t have.

This is my personal preference, and I’ve added reasoning where I could.

If you have other ideas or disagree, please let me know in comments so I can learn.

General

Sockets every 5 meters on every floor

To plug in the vacuum. If building a house, map it out. Cordless vacuums are nice, but less powerfull. The big ones are better.

Vacuum with bag

Donno why, but never had a good one without a bag. Avoid Dyson, expensive, still feels cheap as plastici and somehow not great.

UTP sockets in every room (COAX is dead, don’t install it)

Wireless is great, wired is better. UTP sockets allow you to do power of ethernet, so if you need an extra wifi point you just plug it in and done.

Active ventilation with CO2 adaptation

We had passive one and our bedroom went to 2000 PPM CO2. Active one that adapts is better.

Maybe: Zigbee switches

Think it’s awesome to be able to change switches functionality after install, but not sure if it’s worth the hassle.

Bathroom

Open showers lose heat

They’re pretty, but cold. Doors are better. More cleaning tho so ..

Kitchen

A lot of storage & Keep everything close

It’s the room that has the most stuff, so it should have the most storage. Cooking is stressful enough without having to find stuff and walk around opening doors. Keep it in one room if you can, but a seperate storage room is nice. This includes freezer.

Induction all the way (not sure about multi zones)

I’ve cooked on everything, induction wins. Don’t cheap out tho. Multi zone is nice, but I think you can better heat distribution on the circle ones. Pans are round you see.

Keep the counter clear and everything on one counter

A clear counter is easier te clean. Kitchen islands with either stove or sink is dumb, keep them on the same surface. So you can just swipe right from counter to the sink.

Bedroom

Paint it dark

You’ll sleep better.

Garden

Veranda

Awesome in spring, and in the fall. Gives you an additional nice outdoor space to enjoy and to keep plants. No double/tripple glass needed if it’s in the sun most of the day. Best investment I ever made.
